Two months into Donald Trump's second term, conservative leaders in the tech industry — some of whom are advising the administration — are in a state of turmoil. They are bristling at how the president's chaotic governing, unusual even by the standards of Trump 1.0, is making it increasingly difficult to run their companies.
"None of my friends who voted for Trump are happy right now. Everyone is annoyed," says Reggie James, the founder of Eternal, a new-media company backed by Andreessen Horowitz. "When tech people got involved in the government, they thought Trump was going to take more of a surgical approach and act less like a wrecking ball."
Several Silicon Valley executives I spoke to — some of whom requested anonymity for fear of retribution — echoed this sense of disappointment, in particular at the havoc the Department of Government Efficiency has wreaked throughout the federal government. "We were all on board for a more business-friendly presidency, but in the end, the whole industry of crypto and AI got rug pulled," says the partner of a top-tier venture firm directly involved in the Trump administration. "The people surrounding Trump are all scamsters. They are getting rich off our votes, our dollars, and our time."
While the tech industry at large remains relatively liberal, especially among rank-and-file employees, many influential players warmed to Trump in recent years. They include high-profile venture capital firms like Andreessen Horowitz and Peter Thiel's Founders Fund, the hosts of the popular tech podcast "All-In," as well as billionaire CEOs like Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos, who donated to and had prime seating at Trump's second inauguration. One of the staggering things the latest Cybertruck recall has revealed—other than Tesla’s use of the wrong glue—is that Elon Musk’s company appears to have sold 46,096 of these 7,000-pound electric pickups since customer deliveries began a little over 14 months ago. This is far fewer sales than Musk predicted for the Cybertruck just weeks before the roll-out—he told investors that Tesla would soon sell 250,000 Cybertrucks per year. On an earnings call a month before the November 2023 launch of the production vehicle, Musk boasted that Tesla had bagged “over 1 million” Cybertruck reservations and that “demand is off the charts.” “Reservationists” initially paid $100 to join the queue, a refundable deposit later raised to $250. Car companies often open wait lists for models expected to outstrip supply, but most auto executives don’t expect that all of those who lodge deposits will follow through.“The automotive industry aims for a conversion rate of around 2 to 16 percent [on reservations],” Stephanie Valdez Streaty, director of industry insights for car tech firm Cox Automotive, tells WIRED. By that reckoning, Tesla’s conversion rate is just under 5 percent. That’s at the lower end of the conversion scale, but many experts, used to Tesla’s stratospheric sales, might consider that a flop. MYSTERIOUS spirals thought to be frozen fuel from a Space X rocket have been spotted in the sky above Britain tonight.

The phenomenon was seen by countless people across the UK at around 8pm this evening.Abbey Nicholls, 25, spotted the mystical pattern above her home in Middleton, Manchester. She stepped out into her front garden thinking it was a "shooting star" before quickly realising it was something else.
Abbey told The Sun: "It was like a whirlpool of lights floating across the sky. "It made me feel really strange.
"I've never seen anything like that before."
The mysterious lights have also been spotted from Bristol, Milton Keynes, Stoke-on-Trent, and the coastline of Kent this evening.
Abbey said how she witnessed the strange lights for around 30 seconds before they then "drifted off".

Tesla's downward spiral is turning into a rout, with its share of European electric car sales falling by 58 percent in the first two months of this year, dropping from 18.4 percent in 2024 to 7.7 percent for the same period this year, according to data from JATO Dynamics, an auto consulting firm.
To add insult to injury, Chinese EV brands sold nearly 20,000 vehicles in Europe last month, far outpacing Tesla's 15,700 units.
The American EV company is facing a global backlash, fueled by ire at CEO Elon Musk and his actions as a key adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump.In Europe, Germany is leading the charge in rejecting Tesla, which has one of its gigafactories outside Berlin. That's been fueled by a backlash against Musk after he spoke at a rally for the far-right Alternative for Germany party ahead of the February snap election.
More than 94 percent of respondents to a recent survey of 100,000 Germans said they would no longer buy a Tesla.
The steep fall in Tesla's market share comes as EV sales rebound; European electric car sales this February were 164,148, a 26 percent increase compared to the same month last year.

Archbishop Viganò: ‘Deep church’ has infiltrated the Catholic hierarchy
(LifeSiteNews) – Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò published new claims that a network he calls ‘deep church’ has infiltrated the Catholic hierarchy.
Early this morning, March 6, Archbishop Viganò, a former papal nuncio to the United States, posted to X (formerly Twitter) answers to two sets of questions he said were posed him by The New York Times but went unpublished.
The first, he wrote, was “What is the state of the American church right now? What was the lasting impact of your 2018 letter and the concerns you raised about Pope Francis’ leadership?” The second, he added in a second tweet, was “How are those who have opposed the direction Pope Francis has taken the church working to correct course? What, if anything, is being done to make sure the next Pontiff will not repeat what many see as Francis’s shortcomings? Or is that futile?”
To the first question, touching on the Catholic Church in the United States, Viganò stated that the Catholic hierarchy “has been almost entirely composed of emissaries of a very powerful subversive lobby.”
The archbishop continued:
We have a deep church that has infiltrated and occupied the Catholic Church, as well as a deep state that controls the governments of many nations. The members of this counter-church have transformed the Catholic Church into an organization in support of the woke globalist Left, after having destroyed Faith and Morals and subverted the purposes that Our Lord Jesus Christ gave to His Church. The plan must be seen in its entirety: the deep state and the deep church are two sides of the same coin, and both take orders from the same master who finances them both, as we have seen in the USAID scandal.
Viganò said that to remove the ties between this “deep church” and the “globalist elite,” corrupt prelates and other clergy must be removed and their good confreres promoted:
It is necessary to break the bond of the deep church’s ideological and financial dependence on the globalist elite, by ousting corrupt and blackmailed cardinals, bishops, and priests, and instead promoting those whose lives are consistent with the Gospel and who have at heart the salvation of souls in fidelity to the perennial Tradition of the Catholic Church.
The archbishop stated that the American Church was in a “disasterous situation” and claimed it had been planned. He stated that the “systematic infiltration” could be traced to certain now-deceased churchmen:

“They are all Bergoglio’s men, protected by him, promoted by him, and perhaps blackmailed by him,” he alleged. “Let us not forget the decisive role of the Seminaries, from where the infiltration and capillary corruption of the clergy started.”
Viganò believes that the American Church will emerge from the crisis he identifies if the faithful “cut the funding” and “support traditional Catholic communities instead” and “if the Trump Administration investigates and prosecutes” men in the hierarchy who “have committed crimes or tried to cover them up.”
In regard to the second question, which touched on the prevention of another pontiff like Francis, the archbishop was dismissive of conservative cardinals who do not question “the Second Vatican Council and its disastrous reforms.” He alleged that Cardinals Raymond Burke and Robert Sarah fit this description. However, Viganò believes that this cannot happen anyway as “110 cardinals out of 138 cardinals have been created by Bergoglio precisely to “shield” the Bergoglian synodal revolution and guarantee that it continues.”
He continued:
Those who enter the Conclave thinking they only need to plug a few holes while continuing on a course that has proven to be a disaster – I am referring to the conciliar revolution – will not obtain any lasting results. In a sweeping interview, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the health and human services secretary, outlined a strategy for containing the measles outbreak in West Texas that strayed far from mainstream science, relying heavily on fringe theories about prevention and treatments.
He issued a muffled call for vaccinations in the affected community, but said the choice was a personal one. He suggested that measles vaccine injuries were more common than known, contrary to extensive research.He asserted that natural immunity to measles, gained through infection, somehow also protected against cancer and heart disease, a claim not supported by research.
He cheered on questionable treatments like cod liver oil, and said that local doctors had achieved “almost miraculous and instantaneous” recoveries with steroids or antibiotics.
The worsening measles outbreak, which has largely spread through a Mennonite community in Gaines County, has infected nearly 200 people and killed a child, the first such death in the United States in 10 years.
Another suspected measles death has been reported in New Mexico, where cases have recently increased in a county that borders Gaines County.
The interview, which lasted 35 minutes, was posted online by Fox News last week, just before the President Trump’s address to Congress. Segments had been posted earlier, but the full version received little attention.

SEMINOLE, Texas—The dusty plains of Gaines County stretch endlessly, peanut fields fading into cotton farms and oil fields, punctuated by signs touting God.
This sprawling rural region is defined by oil, agriculture and a large Mennonite community—members of the Anabaptist family of churches that includes the Amish—who emigrated here from Mexico in the 1970s.
Now, it is also the epicenter of a measles outbreak that has spread across nine counties since late January, leading to nearly 200 documented infections, 23 hospitalizations and the nation’s first measles-related death in a decade. The same strain of the measles is responsible for 30 reported cases across the state line in Lea County, New Mexico, where a measles-related death is under investigation. Gaines County exemplifies pockets of America where antivaccine sentiment has surged, fueled by deepening distrust in the U.S. government after the pandemic. With many states making it easier to get vaccine exemptions for school-age children, what was once a rare exception has become common.
“Personal choice” is a term I heard many times when talking to Gaines County area residents about the decision to get a vaccine, even among health officials. What has long been hailed by doctors as a critical lifesaving public-health tool is now considered optional. Source

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines “outbreak” status as having three or more related cases of a disease.
Measles is highly contagious and airborne. A person infected with the virus can spread it through coughing, sneezing and talking. “If one person has it, up to 9 out of 10 people nearby will become infected if they are not protected,” according to the CDC.
So how concerning is the current number of measles cases for public health experts? Very concerning, says Frederic Bertley, CEO and President of the Center of Science & Industry and a leading science educator with a background in immunology.
“People should be worried, both in the U.S. [and] around the world,” Bertley tells CNBC Make It.
“To put it in perspective, last year [in the U.S.] we had 285 cases. That was for the entire year, 12 months. We have not even finished the first quarter [of 2025]. We’re just beginning March, and we’re already at 164. And we’ve already had a death. We have not had a death from measles since 2015 in the United States of America.”
Measles can affect people of all ages, but it does primarily pose a greater risk to children, especially under five years old. Source

Robert F Kennedy Jr, the US health secretary, has caused alarm among pediatricians, vaccine experts and lawmakers with an opinion piece that focuses on vitamin A and nutrition as treatments for measles.
In response to a measles outbreak in Texas, which resulted in the first American measles death in nearly a decade, Kennedy wrote for Fox News about the benefits of “good nutrition” and vitamin A – but did not explicitly recommend highly effective vaccines.
“In fact, relying on vitamin A instead of the vaccine is not only dangerous and ineffective, but it puts children at serious risk,” Dr Sue Kressly, the president of the American Academy of Pediatrics, told the Washington Post.Measles is one of the most infectious diseases in the world. Infections kill one to three people for every 1,000 infected and can cause severe brain swelling, called encephalitis, in one in 1,000 cases. The disease also causes general misery, including a characteristic top-down rash, fever, runny nose, and red and watery eyes. The measles vaccine is 97% effective at preventing the disease.
At least 146 people have been sickened in Texas, primarily in unvaccinated communities in the South Plains region. More than 20 people have been hospitalized, and an unvaccinated school-aged child died – the first American measles death since April 2015.
Kennedy’s initially muted response to the outbreak has drawn intense criticism. Kennedy erroneously said in a cabinet meeting that the outbreak killed two people in Texas, and then, “it’s not unusual” to have outbreaks. The only anti-vaxxers I came across were in the early 90's, they were a weird family of four. They refused to get any vaccine. And this was 30 years before Covid. All of them were converts except for the youngest daughter. I knew the Parents were converts and that they belonged to a cult that haunted RV parks. (NEXSTAR) – One of the most contagious viruses in the world is spreading around the United States. So far in 2025 there have been three distinct measles outbreaks and at least 164 cases reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention coming from nine states.
The largest of the outbreaks is in West Texas, where the total number of people diagnosed with measles grew to 146 on Friday. An unvaccinated child in the region died last week. It was the first measles death in the U.S. since 2015. While the focus in recent weeks has been on Texas, eight other states have confirmed cases of the virus, the CDC reports. Nine cases have been confirmed in New Mexico’s Lea County, and at least one case has been confirmed in Alaska, California, Georgia, Kentucky, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island.Twenty percent of the reported cases have required hospitalization, according to the CDC. Most of those infected have been children.
The virus is airborne and spreads easily when an infected person breathes, sneezes or coughs.
